Shivaprasad Marulendra, MD

Dr. Marulendra has served the GI health needs of the residents of Mercer County and adjoining areas since 1996. He is the co-founder of Premier GI along with Dr. Punitha Shivaprasad.

Dr. Marulendra obtained his medical degree in 1988 from Bangalore Medical College in India. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine from Nassau County Medical Center, in Long Island. Then he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He served as the 4th year Chief Resident at the same university. He went onto obtain his GI fellowship training from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA in 1996.

Dr. Marulendra is Board certified in Gastroenterology and is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He has attending physician privileges at RWJ Barnabas Hospital at Hamilton and Penn Medicine at Princeton. He is also affiliated with Surgery Center at Hamilton and Mercer County Surgery Center.

He has been the recipient of "Top Doctor" award for many years since 2008, as well as "Who's Who" in Gastroenterology.

Punitha Shivaprasad, DO

Punitha Shivaprasad, DO, is an Advanced Therapeutic Gastroenterologist and is the co-founder of Premier GI. She has the distinction of starting two therapeutic endoscopy programs. One at RWJBarnabas at Hamilton in 2015 and Virtua at Lourdes in Camden in 2021. She currently serves at Virtua in addition to the Premier GI practice located at 2271, Route 33, Suite 110, Hamilton, NJ-08690.

Dr. Shivaprasad obtained her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of New England College of Medicine with Honors. She completed her Residency at Cooper University Hospital and went on to finish her 3 year Gastroenterology Fellowship at the same institution. Later, she completed an additional year of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at Georgetown Medical Center, Washington D.C. In addition to upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, she received expert training in the treatment of biliary tract disease including bile duct stones and bile duct cancers. She uses advanced techniques called ERCP and Cholangioscopy to treat these complex conditions. She is passionate about the early detection and staging of Pancreatic, esophageal and stomach cancers using her expertise in an innovative technique called Endoscopic Ultrasound. She has expertise in placing metal stents into esophagus, bile ducts, small and large intestines. Additional training includes drainage of fluid collection of pancreas.

Dr. Shivaprasad was named the Director of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at RWJ Barnabas at Hamilton, NJ, where she was instrumental in setting up their first Endoscopic Ultrasound Program. She was recognized by the staff of this department for her excellent teaching ability and was invited to give many talks including the state level conference of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Association.

Dr. Shivaprasad has earned the respect of her colleagues for her knowledge and professionalism. She is adored by her patients and their families for her friendly demeanor and compassionate care.

Joshua Weston, DO

Joshua Weston, DO is originally from Lewisburg, PA, a small town in central Pennsylvania.  He attended college locally, where he earned his B.S. in Biology at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.  He then obtained his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.  Following medical school, he completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.  Dr. Weston then went on to complete his Fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine / Jefferson Health in South Jersey.  He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Weston provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for the full spectrum of gastrointestinal and digestive diseases, including (but not limited to) gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer, colon polyps and cancers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, and hepatobiliary disease.  His special interests include colorectal cancer screening and prevention, gastroesophageal reflux disease and associated esophageal issues, Celiac disease, obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, and viral hepatitis.

In his spare time, Dr. Weston enjoys outdoor activities and spending quality time with his fiancée and his pet husky.
